Youth in Action... a New Initiative

For those of you that don't know, I've been working in the world of International youth projects now for almost 10 years and its something I'm deeply passionate about. Over the years I've seen intercultural experiences change the lives of young people whatever their background and its something I believe truly works as a way to inspire, enthuse and develop youth in the otherwise fairly  apathetic life that often seems to be accepted these days. Indeed it was travelling and meeting others from around the world and learning things I simply couldn't learn stuck here in the UK that was a huge contributing factor to me making it through some of the hardest days and weeks of my life.

With many years of making contacts and developing networks, I receive a lot of opportunities on the international level into my inbox and I have for a long time now wanted to have some way to easily pass details of these opportunities to others, rather than them just rotting away into my e-mail archive. It is for this reason that I've set up a new twitter account called EU Youth in Action. In actual fact it is not my intention to limit this to EU opportunities by any means, but it was the only name I could find on Twitter! :)

Twitter is a great medium to get this information out there, share these opportunities both with young people, but also, and probably more specifically with youth workers and others working with young people so they can enjoy the chance to build networks and contacts, experience training and seminars and bring intercultural opportunities to the work they're doing. In the future this twitter account may also be a foundation for a website and other tools which I have been dreaming about developing for many years. But this is a first small step.
