Movies for a Saturday Night in the house

Still not sure what I'm doing tonight but here are a couple of movies that if you're staying in over the weekend you might want to give a try. The first is one of the best modern horrors I've seen for a long time, and the second a drama for those not wanting such a scare.

Drag me to Hell (2009)

IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1127180/

Sam Raimi (Director of Drag me to Hell) has become most famous in recent years for his directing of the Spiderman Movies, but most people are aware that like Peter Jackson, Sam Raimi has his roots thoroughly in the Horror genre being the genius behind the amazing "Evil Dead" films. In Drag me to Hell Sam Raimi goes back to his horror roots, although without much if any of the dark comedy of his originals. Drag me to Hell has a rather formulaic horror story as a women is cursed and sees her fairly idilic life turn into a living nightmare. What I really enjoyed about this film is that unlike most of the modern day horrors, it takes a step back in feel and atmosphere to the old school. I was genuinely jumpy and afraid while watching which is so rare to find in horror these days. If you like a bit of supernatural "shock and gore" and can aside a fairly cliché story and script, this is a great movie.

The Music Within (2007)

IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0422783/

This is a nice little drama that I think went pretty much under the radar.  The Music Within explores the life of Richard Pimentel who returns from the Vietnam War losing almost all of his hearing. Based on the true story of his work to introduce the disabilities bill into American society its a story I'd never heard of, and whether its an accurate account or not, it is a very inspirational film that also has all the elements of a good drama. Ron Livingston does a good job in the main role and suprisingly even Melissa George (Angel from Home and Away) is quite likeable after not really impressing me since her move to Hollywood. Emotional and inspiring, I really enjoyed it.
