Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone! I've been a bit quiet on the blogging front lately due to being a little overwhelmed with work and indeed enjoying some time off for the holidays. Yes, I know... me and time off are two things that you don't often hear together but despite a last minute trip to London before Christmas, I can truly say I had at least 7 days without laptops, e-mail or any form of website development or project management.

While I don't have any official resolutions, I'm hoping that two things I'll do more often this year are:

  1. Write a blog entry either here on my personal site or on Consult
    and Design's blog
  2. Take more time off to do the things I enjoy

Having these days off made me realise that for the last 10 years my work has pretty much dominated my life and while I don't regret a moment of it, and have made sure my work has been enjoyable and given me amazing opportunities, I also need to take breaks... Now more than ever.

Last year I did pretty well at making sure I had more of a weekend - taking at least one day a week where I did little or no work - this was a big thing for me. I still don't think I'll get the two days a week off that I probably should this year, I'm going to aim to have at least 6 weeks holidays in an effort to just relax and do nothing. Not sure it'll work but its worth a shot!

The photo attached here is of the view from our bedroom here at Ieva's parents house on 1st January 2010. I think its a really great view, with the fog in the background and the clarity and bright white snow. I'm hoping 2010 will be like that... leaving the misty, foggy things in life in the distance and focussing on the things in front - always enjoying a beautiful sunset of course! :)

Anyway... Happy New Year to everyone I know and love. I hope that the new decade brings happiness, warmth and all the important things you strive for. And importantly - keep moving... sitting still for too long can cause piles.
